Agros Hi-Dri is specially formulated to improve the quality of big bale and high DM grass silage (eg Haylage) and reduce aerobic spoilage.
It delivers two million Lactobacillus Plantarum bacteria to every gram of forage treated, and contains the natural microbial inhibitor Allicin.
The result is a controlled fermentation, minimal protein breakdown and a cool silage which is high in nutrients.
Improves fermentation
Trials carried out at IGER compared the results of big bale silage made with Agros Hi-Dri with untreated clamp silage. The big bale silage was made with a Welger baler and Orkel Chopper baler and treated with Agros Hi-Dri, produced a quicker and more efficient drop in pH than the untreated silage, with no major differences between the two balers.
Improves aerobic stability
Trials carried out at the Centre for Dairy Research at Reading University using 31-47% DM forage showed Agros Hi-Dri to produce better and more stable fermentation than untreated silage, with less ammonia nitrogen and higher lactic acid concentrations. Agros Hi-Dri also resulted in significantly better aerobic stability compared to untreated silage.
33% increase in liveweight gain
A trial at IGER showed that although the analysis of big bale silage made with Agros Hi-Dri was not significantly different from untreated big bale silage, subsequent beef feeding trials proved the advantage of the Agros Hi-Dri treatment with an increase of 33% liveweight gain.
32% reduction in protein breakdown
In further trials at IGER, silage treated with Agros Hi-Dri and made with an Orkel baler showed a 32% reduction in protein breakdown compared to untreated bales.
When the bales were fed to sheep, intakes increased 19% compared with the untreated silage, with a 28% increase in nitrogen retention. This shows the animals were more able to utilise the protein from the Agros Hi-Dri treated silage.
Inhibits yeasts and moulds
Trials have consistently shown Agros Hi-Dri’s combination of Lactobacillus Plantarum and Allicin both produce more rapid and more stable fermentation, and helps overcome the problems associated with aerobic stability.
Improved milk production
Trials at Wye College showed that compared with cows fed untreated silage, those fed silage treated with Agros Hi-Dri gave an extra 19 litres per tonne of silage fed.
Packaging and application rates - New Improved Packaging
Agros Hi-Dri for liquid application is packed in boxes containing one sachet, sufficient to treat 50 tonnes of forage when mixed with water and applied at 2 litres per tonne.

Agros Hi-Dri is Organic Farmers and Growers approved.
