At HIE Madrid in November, Volac met up with Ben Bouckley from NutraIngredients.com.  As well as highlighting the findings from Volac’s recent consumer research report for muscle recovery beverage opportunities, Mark Neville, Head of Lifestyle Ingredients, explained how the addition of protein can offer real consumer choice within the sports drinks category.  For consumers wanting the benefit of both carbs and protein, the latter, as well as providing the muscle recovery benefits, can also increase the efficiency of muscle glycogen (or fuel) replacement.  On the other hand, for people who don’t want the calorie load from carbs, protein can be added to recondition the muscles to support a high training load.  Mark also comments, in the article, on Volac’s successful regulatory activity around phosphoric acid.
